According to various workplace Consultants (including Jim Collins and the research team behind the landmark business book Good to Great, as well as recent studies published in the Academy of Management Journal and Organization Science), humility is a critically important leadership trait.

Leaders who are truly
…servant-hearted
…able to put others and the organization first
…willing to listen with humility to other points of view
are the ones that people will follow.

So what does servant-hearted mean?

Think of leadership as a service you provide to others that enables them to be inspired, engaged and motivated. Leadership is something you do FOR them to give them benefits that THEY want. Think of yourself as their servant who knows just what they need when they need it.

Look around you at people you would want to follow. Why?

Here are some moments of truth for a leader.

My best wishes, Paul
