We all know that the start of anything is an idea. As a manager, where can you get new ideas to help drive improvements in performance?

You will often find the best and most immediately practical ideas are already in the minds of your team.

One of your tasks is to set things up so your team will share those ideas. Successful managers are great listeners and create an environment for people to speak their thoughts and ideas.

Think of a current issue or bottleneck that affects the team, and then ask your team for ideas on how to resolve the issue.

And if you can’t think of an issue, ask your team what they see as an issue, and then ask for ideas on that!
