And they said, “We must tear down the silos”.
But the silos are, to some extent, inevitable. A different culture is required in accounts, sales, research, and the factory. The problem is not the silos, but the gaps between them created by people’s perceptions of those cultural differences, and people’s focus on what’s near to them.
It reminded me of this quote…
“Borders? I have never seen one, but I have heard they exist in the minds of some people.”
