“It’s not what bothers you that is the problem, it’s what has stopped bothering you.” Larry Winget
What are you not seeing around you?
What are you tolerating that others would not?
We grow used to what we ‘swim in’ and cease to notice things that would astonish others.
If you have a new hire, or someone joins your team, have them fill in an ‘astonishment log’ for the first few weeks. They record anything that astonishes them about how things are done, or not done, or what is present, or missing.
Use their new perspective to see what you and your team cannot see.
The astonishment log is a neat little trick that can be part of your ongoing review process.
My best wishes, Paul
