The bullying boss. What can you do?

I heard a heart rending story the other day from someone who was being bullied at work by his boss. His life was greatly affected by it… you could even say he was miserable. And to show you that the stereotypes are often wrong, his boss is a woman.

Bullying, sadly, is alive and well in many workplaces.

So what can you do?

The key is evidence. Any complaint about a bullying boss or co-worker will flounder without some evidence. This should be a list of incidents, a short description of what happened, and how this affected the recipient.

Take this to HR or to a more senior manager, and adhere to any grievance procedures set out in a company handbook, if they exist.

My best wishes, Paul
