Listening – four choices

At work, or at home, how often do we really listen – with empathy and sincere interest?

How do we feel when someone listens to us in that way?

You would think that because we know how good it feels to be really listened to, that we would listen that way when others are having their say. But usually we don’t.

We get so wrapped up in ourselves, our own needs and getting them fulfilled, that we miss the opportunity to connect with someone else. The irony is that the less we listen, the less likely someone else is going to fulfil our needs. They won’t feel valued or respected, so why should they care about us and what we want?

Listening – four choices

My best wishes, Paul
